The Senate is inquiring a statement from Transport Worker’s Union (TWU) that Truck Driving is Australia’s “deadliest profession”.
National Transport Insurance is challenging this statement, saying the industry ‘s safety performance is improving. According to NTI’s latest Major Accident Investigation report, major crash rates are down 32% since 2002.
An outcome of the Senate inquiry is due on the 9th September.
